My maternal great great grand father
Wife: Elizabeth Hohmann was born in 1838 in Reiffelbach, R-Pfalz, Germany. She died on the 26th of April 1888 in Rochester, NY.
They had 11 children. Their first child was a son by the name of William (my maternal great grandfather ).

My maternal great grand father. He married Elizabeth Dill on Sept. 18, 1882 in Rochester. Witnesses at the marriage were Joseph Dill & Louisa Merkel. You can find the information I have on the Dill family including Eliz. Dill on the Dill page. William and Elizabeth had 10 children. Their second child was Elizabeth Willamena Merkel, my maternal grandmother.
William was a tailor according to the1900 Census.
His God Parents were Bernard Merkel & Agatha Krieg of Irondequoit NY. He was baptised at St. Joseph's church.

cent left Germany on the 9th of Nov. 1851 on the ship called the "Splendid". Also on the ship were his parents and the rest of his brothers and sisters. They arrived in New York 10 Dec. 1851.
