Gustave Merkel

Occupation:

Census records indicate that between 1900 and 1925, Gustave sold carpet and rugs. The city directories indicate the address for the carpet store in 1901 was at 80 State St. for Howe & Rogers Co. (Carpets). In 1916  he was working at 89 S. Clinton. This also turns out to Howe & Rogers again. It seems they moved their business. In 1918 he was listed by the city directory as a stockkpr at 89 Clinton Ave. S. Rochester, NY. The 1920 census listed his as a furniture salesman and his death certificate indicates that in 1951 he was a salesman at Prince Furniture Co.
