Juliana and Cecilia Pfetzer

Eusebius Merkel

Early in my research, I often wondered why my Great Grandfather, Jacob Merkel decided to come to Rochester in 1867 and not some other city. Later in my research I discovered that he had relatives and friends already in Rochester to meet him when he arrived. Some of those people were members of the Weber and Pfetzer families.

Also visit the Weber page for information on the Merkel - Weber - Pfetzer connections

Here is a link to Juliana Pfetzer.
Juliana Pfetzer: ( cousin of Cecilia ) born 15 Feb. 1827 Iffezheim, Germany.
Immigrated to Rochester prior to 1856. Juliana and Cecilia were both born in 1927. They may have immigrated together but I'm not sure at this time. Juliana did arrive prior to 1856 when she married George Weber on 24 Nov. 1856 in Rochester. George Weber is from Bavaria and is not related to the Weber families from Iffezheim. I don't have any information on George Weber at this time or whether George and Juliana had any children.

Barbara and Juliana Pfetzer had a cousin who also came to Rochester before Jacob Merkel got there. Her name was Cecilia Pfetzer born 30 Nov. 1827 Iffezheim, Germany.
Immigrated to Rochester in 1854. Cecilia married Florian Weber on 6 Aug. 1854 in Rochester, NY. Florian Weber also came from Iffezheim.
