Maternal Merkel Families

Valentine Merkel 1789 - 22 June 1856, My maternal great great great grand father emigrated the 9th of Nov. 1851 from Germany and the Atlantic harbor Le Harve and arrived at the Port of New York on the 10 of Dec. 1851 at the age of 62. The Manifest of Passengers indicates that Valentine arrived with his wife Maria Anna Gerstner and 6 children on the ship: Splendid. Two of his other children, Leopold and Valentina also arrived on the same ship but are listed with their husbands and families. Leopold and his wife Valentina Schmitt arrived with their 6 children. Valentina and her husband Elias Fritz made the journey with their two children.
